GRIP Combat Racing Release Date Announced With New Trailer

Looking forward to some futuristic combat racing action? Well, count your lucky stars, because that’s exactly what’s coming in the form of GRIP Combat Racing. Caged Element has announced that its new, hard-hitting racing game is due to release on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch on November 6. It looks like a lot of fun and we can’t wait to drive around walls, ceilings, and anything else, smashing into other cars at speeds topping 700 mph. Thankfully, we’ll all be playing GRIP in November.

To announce the release date, Caged Element released a brand-new trailer, which you can watch below:

Personally, I’m looking forward to heading back into the gameplay of the fantastic Extreme G games of my youth. GRIP looks stunning, with 4-player split-screen and 10 player online multiplayer to boot. It looks fast, frantic and a whole lot of fun. Going into more details regarding GRIP’s gameplay is Rob Baker on the PlayStation Blog, the Principal Programmer at Caged Element. Part of what he covers is about the difficulties behind balancing fun and competitive gameplay in GRIP. He explains that GRIP will feature “nine power-ups”, and that “each of which has been carefully considered and balanced”:

“The game offers great variety and even the ability for savvy racers to super-charge their arsenal and deliver a race-changing blow. On top of the weapons system, the three vehicle classes have been carefully balanced and we’ve implemented a system we call catch-up assist. This is a configurable race option which goes beyond just rubber-banding the AI. Catch-up assist subtly changes the forces on the vehicles based on position, helping to keep the racing pack tight for maximum carnage. If you’re a fan of the purely balanced experience this can be switched off (and even used to filter for online games), but for us this gets left on for maximum fun.”

We can’t wait to have “maximum fun” in GRIP Combat Racing. We don’t have all that long to wait, either, as it launches on all home consoles and PC November 6.
