Taiko-No-Tatsujin

Taiko no Tatsujin Release Date Announced, Coming to PS4 and Switch

After we reported a potential western release last weekTaiko no Tatsujin is officially getting a release outside of Japan later this year. The popular arcade game will be coming to western markets November 2nd across both Europe and the US. Two editions will be released: one for the PS4 and one for the Nintendo Switch. Bandai Namco tweeted this news along with a trailer you can find below earlier today.

The Nintendo Switch version of the game will have the subtitle Drum n’ Fun while the PS4 version will be called Drum Session. Apart from the obvious differences of being on two different consoles, each version has its own unique features. Although no songs have been revealed for the Nintendo Switch version of the game, it will utilize the JoyCons as the main way to play the game. As for the PS4 version, the game will include tracks from:

“Neon Genesis Evangelion, Disney favorites including Frozen and Zootopia, and tracks from Kemono Friends, Osomatsu San, Hatsune Miku, and even Touhou Project. We didn’t forget to include some of our own personal favorite songs from the Tekken series, Tales of Berseria, Ridge Racer, and IdolM@ster”

according to a blog post made by PlayStation. There is, however, no indication of how the game will be played on Sony’s home console. Additionally, there is no current news on whether a taiko drum peripheral will be released for either Taiko no Tatsujin games. Either way, this is extremely exciting to see announced as fans could only import prior entries in the franchise or visit Japan to play the arcade versions.

But what do you think? Are you interested in drumming to your favorite tracks? Or do you think this game marches to its own drumbeat and isn’t worth your time? Sound off in the comments below!
