Nintendo Switch Online Subscriptions

Nintendo Switch Online Subscriptions Now Available for Pre-Purchase

It’s that time once again where Nintendo players are faced with the harsh reality that is Nintendo Switch online subscriptions. While many of us may have forgotten it (or at least tried to), the news that you are now actually able to pre-purchase the online service before its release in September may cause more than a few gamers to sigh and fall face-first into the nearest comfortable object.

But it isn’t all that bad. As we’ve mentioned in a previous article, there is still a lot of good to come out of Nintendo’s online subscription such as cloud saving and the inclusion of a compilation of classic NES games. These will include some really great oldies too such as, The Legend of ZeldaMario Bros.SoccerSuper Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Ice Climber and a whole lot more. So just like PS Plus and Xbox Gold, there will be perks to the online subscription.

Ahead of the release, pre-purchases for the paid subscription have started appearing on retail websites such as Amazon and eBay. What’s more, you’ll also be able to purchase the subscription within the Switch’s eShop when it releases in September. So, while you can get the subscription now if you wish, there is no real reason to rush at all.

Though the subscription will, of course, not run out, gamers should be aware that unless they purchase the online subscription then it’ll be impossible to play with their friends online in the future. Which means that Splatoon 2 team you were all thinking of making? It won’t be happening unless all of you are subscribed to Nintendo’s newest online feature.

Again while some may feel as though this adds nothing to the Switch apart from some added games and cloud space, it is undeniable that this change was a long time coming. But what do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
