During an interview at San Diego Comic-Con Telltale Games Creative Director Kent Mudle teased The Walking Dead Season 5. This is despite teases for the developer’s latest season being the last in the series of games.
In an interview at the annual geek convention, Mudle was asked whether Season 4 would end Telltale Games’ relationship with the zombie franchise. Despite the fact that the upcoming game is being marketed as the ‘final season’, Mudle said otherwise. He stated: “This season is the end of Clementine’s journey, and that’s as much as I’ll say on that”. This does not count as an official confirmation of new games as no official statement has been made on the topic.
What we can say for sure is that Season 4 will be the end of Clementine’s fraught journey. In addition to that, Telltale Games has done spin-offs before, releasing games such as The Walking Dead: Michonne or The Walking Dead: 400 Days. This indicates that Telltale is more than willing to make games in its ongoing series that are not part of its own original The Walking Dead story. The studio could venture into new and bold territories not covered by the acclaimed comic series or television show. But it could also go the opposite direction and put its own spin on the already existing stories in the universe. Who knows where Telltale Games could go with The Walking Dead? Only time will tell.
The final season of Clementine’s story will be released on August 14th, 2018. It will release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One for $19.99. It will also be available on the Nintendo Switch at a later date.
So what do you think? Are you happy that this might not be the end of the acclaimed series? Or do you think that it should slip off the mortal coil instead of being like its zombies? Sound off in the comments below!
