Call of Cthulhu Release Date Revealed for PS4, Xbox One, and PC

*ring*, *ring*. “Hello?” “Yeah, hi, is that Mr. Saunders?” “It is”, “Hi, this is Cthulu calling. I’ll see you in October.” That’s right, my Lovecraft-loving loonies. The Call of Cthulhu release date has been announced. We’ll be stepping into Edward Pierce’s nightmare on October 30th. Cyanide’s Call of Cthulu will launch in time for Halloween on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Dare you answer the call?

Rather than being directly lifted from Lovecraft’s tales of Cthulu, Cyanide’s new game is based on Chaosium’s classic pen and paper RPG, Call of Cthulu. The game puts you in control of 1920’s Private Investigator Edward Pierce. You are sent on a mission to investigate the mysterious death of the Hawkins family. The trouble is, the Hawkins family lived in a spooky, secluded mansion on the spooky, secluded Darkwater Island. It’s left entirely up to you how you will tackle the investigation. Will you interrogate the creepy locals? Will you spend your time exploring the mansion? There are no wrong answers here.

Mr. Pierce isn’t blessed with strength or weapons training, however. There won’t be any combat in Call of Cthulhu. Pierce’s power is his mind, which no doubt, the game’s cast of unfriendly locals, cults and deranged scientists will have their wicked way with. Indeed, this nightmarish game will place you directly in the madness with its first-person view. You’ll literally be stepping into a Lovecraftian nightmare.

You won’t only be dealing with creepy townsfolk and cultists, however. The occult plays a big part in Call of Cthulhu. Horrifying creatures stalk the streets and halls of the mansion. Simply put, this is going to be one scary game. Not only content with the scares, however, Call of Cthulhu leaves everything open for you. It’s up to you how to tackle the murder mystery, and an open ending means different conclusions for different players.

Hopefully, Cyanide’s Call of Cthulhu will be as smart and scary as it sounds. We don’t have too long to wait though. Thankfully, the Call of Cthulhu release date is October 30th.
