Monster Hunter World PC

Monster Hunter World Is the Best Selling Game in Japan

Monster Hunter World pleasantly surprised the world when it debuted back in January, showing off a beautiful world that many couldn’t wait to get stuck in. Ever since then the game and its community has only gotten bigger, better and more varied as DLC and events have been releasing non-stop. What’s more, it only recently came to light that the game will be heading onto PC this August 9th and already fans are eager to get their hands on it.

So it doesn’t come as a surprise that Monster Hunter World has done well not just in the West, but in Japan too with almost 2 million copies sold since it released this year. This number was found thanks to Famitsu, who decided to rank the top 100 video gaming successes in 2018 in Japan based on their sales figures.

However, not only did Monster Hunter World manage to sneak in at number 1, it also beat out 7 of the Nintendo exclusive games included in the list such as Splatoon 2, Kirby: Star Allies, Super Mario Odyssey, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. All of those are pretty impressive games, so we’re shocked (but proud) to see that Capcom’s Monster Hunter managed to outsell all of them.

But what does that mean for the future of Monster Hunter World? While it is coming out on PC this August, could this success in Japan imply that we’ll be seeing more of Monster Hunter World in the future in the form of expansions and new DLC? We’d like to think so, and we’re sure fans of the series feel the same.

In other Monster Hunter news, an animated special called Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild is set to release sometime in 2019. It is said that Capcom will be collaborating with Pure Imagination Studios to bring this animated feature to life. To hear more, check out the article here.
