CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiciński has hinted that a new Witcher game is in the works, but has said that “we simply could not name the next game The Witcher 4.” For now, however, Cyberpunk 2077 will be taking the centre stage “in order not to dissipate our resources.”
It’s been known that CD Projekt has been working on another game alongside Cyberpunk 2077, but until an interview with Bankier.pl, we had no reason to suspect that it might be a new Witcher game. CEO Adam Kiciński was asked whether The Witcher 4 was something that the studio would consider, and his response was vague but optimistic. “The first three Witchers were by definition a trilogy, so we simply could not name the next game The Witcher 4,” said Kiciński.
He continued, “This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher, created by us for over a dozen years. The Witcher is one of two franchises on which to build in the future activities of the company. Today, unfortunately, I can not reveal anything more.” Whether this and the second game that CD Projekt is working on are related, we can’t say for sure. But Kiciński has said that “there will come a time” when the studio will tell us more about this secondary project.
This comes after last week when it was confirmed that R. Talsorian Games is almost ready to launch a Witcher Tabletop RPG. R. Talsorian is known as the publisher and designer of Cyberpunk 2020, co-founded by Mike Pondsmith, who is consulting with CD Projekt on the development of Cyberpunk 2077. In the meantime, the aforementioned Cyberpunk 2077 is the primary focus of CD Projekt’s commitments. “or now consciously we want to focus on the Cyberpunk 2077, in order not to dissipate our resources and attention of players,” said Kiciński.
