Uncharted 4 Twist: Nathan Drake Doesn’t Lose HP, Only Luck

Learning something new every day is always exciting, but this time we really are stunned to hear that there’s an Uncharted 4 twist like no other. You see, our hero Nathan Drake doesn’t lose HP like we originally thought. Instead of being drained of health, which is what many of us thought whenever we saw the game’s UI turn red, it actually represents Drake’s luck running out. While bullets fly around and seemingly ‘hit’ you, this isn’t the case and a bullet only hits you when you run out of luck and consequently die seconds later.

This revelation comes from Naughty Dog’s animater, Jonathan Cooper, on his Twitter page. Check out the tweet for yourselves below.

Amy Hennig, the creator of Uncharted, also tweeted more information about the intention behind Drake’s near misses and the ‘luck’ system. She said, “True! That was the original intention (to stay more aligned with the spirit and tone of the films we were homaging).” So, if we were to assume, we’d speculate that either everyone in Uncharted is incredibly bad at aiming or Drake is just agile enough to slip and slide past bullets. Or both.

In other news, Uncharted creator Amy Hennig recently spoke about how single player games will be unable to be classified as sustainable at current price points. This may cause some people to ask whether single player games are dying, but apparently the answer is not as simple as that. To know more, check out the article linked above.
