Developer and publisher Spike Chunsoft has revealed several games at this year’s Anime Expo. Visual novel fans will have plenty to look forward to as the publisher announced several games will be releasing in the west. Zero Escape director Kotaro Uchikoshi also revealed a brand new game at the show.
Kotaro Uchikoshi revealed his new game at Anime Expo 2018, AI: The Somnium Files. The new game by the Zero Escape director is a detective-noir mystery that is to release on PS4. The game was announced two years ago at GDC under the name of Project: PSYNC. The lead character designer for AI: The Somnium Files is Yuskue Kozaki. Kozaki is known for his work on Fire Emblem Awakening and No More Heroes.
Spike Chunsoft also revealed that they would be bringing Yu-No to the West. Yu-No is a remake of the of the original 1998 PC and Sega Saturn version that is being developed by Mages. Steins;Gate Elite now has a 2019 release date. All PS4 copies of Steins;Gate Elite will include Steins;Gate: Linear Bounded Phenogram. It seems that Steins;Gate fans have a lot look forward to in the future.
Spike Chunsoft also revealed that 428 Shibuya Scramble would be releasing in the West later this year. 428 Shibuya Scramble is a game that has never been released before in the West so this will be a brand new experience for visual novel fans in the West. The game looks to be a mixture of live action elements and visual novel style gameplay. The story involves an ex-gang leader, a mascot, kidnapping and bioterrorism according to the trailer. There seems to be a lot going on 428 Shibuya Scramble and the mystery behind what is happening is up to the player to unravel.
Developer and publisher Spike Chunsoft is known for making a wide array of visual novels and role-playing games and localising games. These announcements are sure to please visual novel fans here in the West.
