PlayStation Now Discount for Summer Detailed, Adds More PS2 Games

Sony has detailed a PlayStation Now discount for summer, as well as new PS2 games coming to the service. The PS4 doesn’t have backward compatibility support per se, but thanks to PlayStation Now, at least subscribers of the service are getting a taste of several PS2 classics. Sony launched the PS Now service for the PS4 and PC back in 2015, but it only added its first PS2 games back in May 2018. It’s great for those wishing to replay some of their favorite PS2 games, without resorting to emulators or searching for your old console in the attic.

In a post on PlayStation Blog earlier today, PS Now Senior Marketing Manager Brian Dunn announced a total of 12 new games coming to the service as part of its July 2018 lineup, four of which are PS2 classics. The newly-added PS2 games are Dark Cloud, FantavisionHarvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Special Edition and Rogue Galaxy. Interestingly, both Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy are games by Japanese developer Level-5, who was also responsible for the recent JRPG hit Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom.

Besides the PS2 games, other new additions include:

  • BlazBlue: Central Fiction
  • Farming Simulator 17
  • MXGP 2 – The Official Motocross Videogame
  • Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet
  • Umbrella Corps
  • Wild Guns
  • Rainbow Moon
  • Strider

Sony also revealed the most popular games on the PS Now service in June, which include titles like Red Dead Redemption and The Last of Us. Meanwhile, Rainbow Moon and Strider are both PS3 games which have been upgraded to the PS4 versions.

Now looks to be a great time to subscribe to the service, as it is currently available at just $9.99 for a full month exclusively for new subscribers. You can also get a full year for $99.99 or take advantage of the PlayStation Plus member discount of only $29.99 for three months. These discounts will only be available until September 25, 2018. In other related news, the PSN US mid-year sale started earlier this week and is in full swing. Many incredible games are on sale, with discounts up to 60 percent off.
