Ratchet and Clank PS4 Sales, crackdown

Ratchet and Clank PS4 Sales Make It “Most Successful Insomniac Game Ever”

Do you remember Ratchet and Clank on the PS4? The movie tie-in that was also a remake of the first game in the series? Of course you do. Insomniac has now confirmed that it is the most successful game the company ever released. Fair enough, I guess!

Indeed, speaking on ResetEra, a developer over at Insomniac made the claim. To put the claim into some context, it came as part of an argument over the potential quality of the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man game from Insomniac. Several commenters are worried about it. One user is very concerned, saying that they “hope it doesn’t have the Arkham problem where you have to go out of your way to look cool and use the different battle mechanics but really it’s in your best interests to interact only when you need to.” The user’s biggest concern, however, comes from the fact that Marvel’s Spider-Man is being developed by the same studio as Ratchet and Clank on PS4.

“Really, the biggest concern for this game comes not from its showings, but Ratchet and Clank PS4. We can chalk it up to the movie tie-in, but it was still utterly devoid of witty writing and adequate substance for the game world and it doesn’t do a whole lot of favors for me looking at this game. It seems like this game has been cooking a lot longer than Insomniac’s normal stuff though so it gives me hope.”

You can understand how this riled up an Insomniac developer enough in order to reply. Under the username “jstevenson,” the developer explained that “Ratchet and Clank… is the most successful Ratchet/Insomniac game of all time.” He argued with the original comment, saying that he thinks they “will be pleasantly surprised” by Marvel’s Spider-Man. The whole exchange can be seen below:

Ratchet & Clank 2016 did very well for Insomniac

While you can argue about the quality of Ratchet and Clank PS4 all you want, you can’t argue with its number of sales. We’re very much looking forward to the new Spider-Man here on GameRevolution. Marvel’s Spider-Man releases exclusively on PS4 September 7, 2018.
