Fallout 76 Crossplay

Fallout 76 Crossplay Won’t Be Happening Right Now

In a time where strife seems to be around every corner, sometimes a person just wants to kick back with their friends and play some video games in their favorite world. Fallout 76 offers that rich, adventurous world that helps people come together, but Fallout 76 crossplay, or rather the lack of it, may leave some friend groups rather divided. And while we don’t like to point fingers, the difficulty of Fallout 76 crossplay lies at a certain company’s feet.

It is, after all, no secret that Sony has received criticism from all angles about how they’ve handled crossplay between the PS4 and other platforms, such as Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Both Microsoft and Nintendo have made it clear what they think of the situation too, with the head of Xbox Phil Spencer stating “If it [lack of crossplay] doesn’t help the developers and it doesn’t help the consumer, then it doesn’t feel like it helps to grow gaming to me.”

However, despite the amount of criticism that Sony has received from gaming companies, not many gaming development studios have said much about the issue. Yet an interview between Gamestar and Todd Howard looks to change that, where Bethesda’s director and executive producer answered a question about the possibility of crossplay.

Howard explained, “we would love to do that, but right now that’s not possible.” Then he added, “Sony isn’t being as helpful as we want them to be.” And while it is no surprise that Sony is once again the issue for a lack of crossplay, we can’t deny that we’re intrigued that Howard and Bethesda are also putting pressure on Sony to lighten up when it comes to crossplay.

Whether crossplay between PS4 and other platforms will happen or not remains to be seen, but we sincerely hope it does for all the players out there whose friends don’t have the same gaming platform as them.
