Resident Evil 2 Remake West Office Safe Code

Resident Evil 2 Remake Switch Won’t Happen Anytime Soon

The Resident Evil 2 Remake was one of the few surprises revealed during the PlayStation Showcase at E3 2018. It looks incredible and definitely showcases how much games have progressed since Resident Evil 2 was originally released over two decades ago. While most gamers will be happily anticipating the game’s release next year, Nintendo Switch owners shouldn’t hold their breath for the game coming to the hybrid console anytime soon, according to Capcom.

Speaking to GamingBolt at E3 2018, Capcom brand manager Mike Lunn responded to the question of whether a Nintendo Switch version of Resident Evil 2 Remake could possibly happen. He said: “No, not at this time. We just wanted to focus on PS4, Xbox One, and PC at the moment.” That probably means a Nintendo Switch version of the game is highly unlikely to be released in the near future even if it becomes a reality.

If the game is even in development for the Nintendo Switch, Capcom would have announced it alongside the other platforms. However, it looks like the game might be too much for the technological capability of the hybrid console, considering that the game uses the same RE Engine utilized in Resident Evil 7. That might also be a moot point since Resident Evil 7 is already technically coming to the Nintendo Switch in the form of a cloud service. The Resident Evil 7 Cloud Version launched in Japan earlier in May 2018.

Resident Evil 2 Remake: Was A First-Person Perspective Considered?

Additionally, Lunn also spoke on whether the Resident Evil 2 Remake could have been developed with a first-person perspective ala Resident Evil 7. He said: “I bet it was tossed around at some point in time, because it’s built on the same engine as RE7 engine. It’s built from the ground up, but I don’t think it was ever top running. We have toyed with things like the over the shoulder camera, old school corner camera, but again they went with over the shoulder because it felt right for this product.”

The Resident Evil 2 Remake is set to release for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on January 25th, 2019. In the meantime, check out the most recent gameplay trailer below.
