Nintendo Switch Family Showdown

Nintendo Switch Family Showdown Will Feature Families Challenging Each Other in Games Like Super Mario Odyssey

Nintendo and Disney will be collaborating to give gamers never knew they ever wanted, a family-oriented game show featuring challenges involving the Nintendo Switch and its games. The Nintendo Switch Family Showdown is exactly what its name implies, where different families will compete with each other in a gauntlet of challenges to prove that they’re the ultimate Nintendo family.

According to the press release, families will compete in challenges like “searching for collectibles in Super Mario Odyssey, competing in head-to-head matchups in Mario Tennis Aces and participating in dance-offs in Just Dance 2018.” It’s great that Nintendo and Disney have decided to go with a diverse lineup of games, including single-player games, sports games, and party games. There’s something for the entire family to enjoy.

This looks like a welcome effort from both companies, as it will probably increase awareness on how diverse games actually are. More families will realize that not all games are violent first-person-shooters and bloody fighting games. Games like Splatoon 2 and the upcoming Super Smash Bros Ultimate would be prime candidates to appear on the show.

Nintendo Switch Family Showdown: How To Participate

Any family can apply to participate in the Nintendo Switch Family Showdown by submitting an original video at the official site, explaining why they’re the ultimate Nintendo fans. Four lucky selected families will be able to win a trip to Los Angeles, meet their favorite Disney stars and compete in the Nintendo Switch Family Showdown to win prizes. However, the prizes have not been revealed at the time of writing.

The show will be featured on the Disney Channel and Disney XD, as well as streamed on the DisneyNOW app this summer. The contest starts at 12 pm PT on 18th June 2018 and ends at 11.59 pm on 1st July 2018. The show will start airing on 27th August 2018. In other related news, the Nintendo Switch has sold over 17 million units worldwide, as of April 2018.
