Bandai Namco Confirms New Tales of Title Is in Development

It’s been nearly two years since Tales of Berseria first debuted back in August 2018, and ever since Tales of fans have wondered when the next new game would be released. Thankfully that wait is over, as during the Tales Of Festival 2018, Bandai Namco confirmed that there was, in fact, a new Tales of title in development. And no, it isn’t a mobile game. So fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

While Bandai’s newest Tales game didn’t do brilliantly, only just reaching over 1 million sales worldwide, it was seen in a much more positive light than Tales of Zestiria which scored 72% on Metacritic, unlike Berseria’s 78%. It may not seem much of a difference, but it is undeniable that Tales of Berseria was a step in the right direction.

That said, the Tales festival did not give out much information about the new game, apart from details that informed fans that the newest game in the Tales of series will not be an escort or a spin-off series, but a mothership title. Though we’re unsure if this game will be set in a new universe entirely, or will carry on the malevolence storyline that was in both Berseria and it’s sequel, Zestiria. Though, considering how poorly Zestiria was received, we’re not sure that’s the best option.

The confirmation of a new Tales game in the future will no doubt excite most fans. However, it will also give new players a chance to play the remaster of Tales of Vesperia, which is said to be coming out sometime in Winter this year. New players getting attracted to the Tales series thanks to Vesperia, only to have a new Tales game in the future? It’s clear Bandai Namco know what they are doing and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
