Studio Trigger x Arc System Works Collab Countdown

Arc System Works and Studio Trigger Countdown Website Goes Live

Studio Trigger, the Japanese animation company behind Kill la Kill and Darling in the Franxx, might be working on a new project with Dragon Ball FighterZ, Guilty Gear, and BlazBlue developer Arc System Works as the former has launched a new countdown website with a timer that’s set to end on June 15 at 8:00 p.m. PT / 11:00 p.m. ET. An image, shown below, was found by Twitter user zetsubouquet on the website’s server which shows the names of both companies as well as part of the word “countdown,” which pretty much confirms the collaboration.

Studio Trigger is known for quite a number of anime productions including Kill la Kill, Space Patrol Luluco, Kiznaiver, Little Witch Academia, and, most recently, Darling in the Franxx which is a collaboration alongside fellow animation studio A-1 Pictures. The studio was founded by former employees of Gainax, the studio famous for anime such as Neon Genesis Evangelion and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Arc System Works just recently launched its latest 2D fighting game BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle which features a crossover between BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena, Under Night In-Birth, and RWBY. The company also launched Dragon Ball FighterZ earlier this year, which was met with very high praise. Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to be one of the main event titles at this year’s Evo 2018, the biggest annual fighting game event.

It isn’t clear what the two companies are working on together but given the Arc System Works’ history with 2D fighting games it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the company announced a new fighting game featuring characters created by Studio Trigger. There’s also the possibility that Studio Trigger will be working on a new anime project in collaboration with Arc System Works. We’ll just have to wait until the countdown runs out or more information leaks to find out what the companies have in store for us.
