The Super Smash Bros Ultimate roster has been announced, with Nintendo officially lifting the lid on the game during its Nintendo Direct E3 2018 presentation. The game runs with the tagline “everyone is here,” with it including every character in every Smash Bros game so far. The first Smash Bros Switch release, it will see players start with 12 characters, with 64 characters available to unlock.
While Super Smash Bros Ultimate appears to borrow heavily from Smash Bros Wii U, the addition of characters from across the entirety of the Smash Bros archives means that a number of key changes have been made. Each fighter has had alterations made to them in order to accommodate for the larger roster, which will mean that it will play differently to the Wii U game, despite looking very similar.
The new gameplay reveal also announced Echo fighters, which are palette swaps of other combatants, with Daisy serving as Peach’s Echo fighter. There are also a couple of new roster additions in the form of Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy (along with the Squid Sisters as an assist trophy), while the likes of Snake and Cloud have also returned.
