Respawn Announce Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order at E3 2018

Vince Zampella took to the stage at EA Play to announce one of the worst-kept secrets of E3 2018: Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars title is coming Holiday 2019 and has a name: Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order.

Set to take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope a la Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Zampella didn’t reveal much about his title, except to briefly cut across the presenter to mention that the time period in question was a “dark time.”

The title, Fallen Order, may hint at Order 66 and the purging of the Jedi. Expect the game to focus around some of the few remaining Jedi in a galaxy far, far away.

The Titanfall developer had already promised a tidbit at the EA Play conference and, boy, did Zampella deliver with his choice few words. With Respawn Entertainment being made up of plenty of ex-Call of Duty staff, it remains to be seen whether this will be a first person shooter, a staple of the brains behind Respawn, or something completely different.

If nothing else, the cushion Episode 3 and A New Hope allows Respawn some leeway when it comes to crafting a brand-new story full of Jedi, Sith, and whatever else the spacefaring adventure might throw our way. While we still have a way to go before we get our hands on the title, Holiday 2019, it promises to be a wait well worth savoring. Could this be the best Star Wars game ever? Don’t put it past the team at Respawn to deliver in spades.
