Twitter And Facebook Apps Will Vacate The Xbox Dashboard

Did you notice during the Xbox Dashboard update this week that the Facebook and Twitter apps are missing? No? Okay, you can skip reading this then. But if you did notice, then be aware that this wasn't an oversight. Microsoft confirmed with IGN that these apps have been officially "retired" with this mandatory dashboard update.

Microsoft's reasoning? They opted to remove them in order to help "streamline" app functionality for the Xbox. In other words, they want you to use Internet Explorer to tweet and post to Facebook.

I think I've tweeted from my Xbox once, just to do it and see the point, and then I never thought about it again. To be honest, I completely forgot those apps were there until I saw the rumblings over what happened to the apps this week. Are you going to miss them?
