Monster Hunter World Lunastra

Monster Hunter World Lunastra Free Update Adds New Elder Dragon

Capcom dropped a major bombshell earlier today when it officially announced that Elder Dragon Lunastra will be coming to Monster Hunter World. Monster Hunter fans never expected the Empress of Flame to appear in the game. She was originally introduced in 2006’s Monster Hunter 2 and her last appearance in 2009’s Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

The Japanese games giant announced the arrival of Lunastra via a blog post on its official site. Since launch, Monster Hunter World has already received two new monsters in free updates, Brute Wyvern Deviljho and Elder Dragon Kulve Taroth. This time around Lunastra will arrive with new tricks and abilities, which makes her even more aggressive than her male counterpart, Teostra. Hunters will have to watch out for her burning blue fire. If that’s not enough, she can call upon Teostra and bond with him for massive attacks against players.

Monster Hunter World Lunastra: Rewards

The reward for successfully hunting Lunastra is obtaining rare materials which resonate with material from other monsters, making it possible for players to combine skills from other monsters with Lunastra weapons and armor. For example, combining a Bazelgeuse Gem unlocks the Guts skill which adds defensive advantage to Lunastra weapons. Confirmed monsters also include Nergigante and Xeno’jiiva, but players will have to check out the smithy for more combinations.

The arrival of Lunastra in Monster Hunter World heralds the coming of the Arch-Tempered Elder Dragons, which are more powerful versions of Tempered Elder Dragon. More information will be revealed soon about these mysterious new monsters. Players will receive the latest free update for the game in less than 12 hours, on May 30th at 5 pm PT. Monster Hunter World is now available for the PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC version slated for release on an unspecified date. In our review, we gave it a 4.5 out of 5.
