The Mario + Rabbids DLC Donkey Kong Trailer is Absolutely Bananas

He’s finally here to kick some tail. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle DLC is bigger, better, and stronger too. All thanks to a primate – and the rest of his DK crew. Right. Enough rapping. Let’s get down to brass tacks: Ubisoft has unleashed the gameplay trailer for new Mario + Rabbids DLC Donkey Kong Adventure, and it looks absolutely amazing.

The Mario + Rabbids DLC, which sees Donkey Kong, Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Cranky Kong go off on a quest to stop Rabid Kong, is heading your way in June – and there’s a lot to take in.

For one thing, this isn’t a bite-sized chunk for you to get your teeth stuck into. The trailer description promises “four brand-new environments” and, with the shake-up in the roster, there’s all-new ways to play too.

Banana boomerangs, volleyball-style serves to move allies around the map and, brilliantly, the return of the Donkey Konga bongos: you name it, it’s all here. You can tell Ubisoft have poured their heart and soul into this DLC, and it shows in every tiny detail that pops up on the colourful new trailer.

“We wanted to have a lot of movement and close combat elements in this new character,” reveals producer Xavier Manzanares, hinting that the game will flip things on its head so you Mario + Rabbids veterans won’t be able to sleepwalk their way through the Donkey Kong DLC.

Cranky Kong, though, will be the one that catches the eyes of most. Manzanares feels it is a choice the developers made because it wasn’t expected. Being strong in combat and “unpredictable”  makes Rabbid Cranky Kong a worthy addition to your repertoire, especially as his cane can be upgraded and adapted to best suit your combat situation.

I don’t want to speak too soon but can we have Mario + Rabbids DLC in this vein every three-to-four months? It’s looking like the best possible follow-up to the sleeper hit of 2017.
