Capcom has just announced a Nintendo Switch worldwide release for their game Okami HD, a game where the player controls protagonist Ōkami Amaterasu, a sun goddess in the form of a white wolf who must save the land from a terrible curse.
The game was originally thought to be heading to the Nintendo Switch in Japan only, but a recent tweet from the official Okami Twitter seems to have cleared up any confusion about whether it would be getting a worldwide release or not.
Time to roll up your sleeves and get direct hands-on with saving the world. #Okami HD is coming to Nintendo Switch this summer!

To say the game is beautiful and artistic is an understatement. Okami officially released in 2006 on the PlayStation 2, and ever since then, it has awed its fans with its story, vibrant art style, and outstanding music. So much so that it got ported onto Xbox One, PC, and the PS4 only just last year, causing Switch fans to wonder when their turn would come.
Further news was revealed about the game later today, with Nintendo announcing a release date: August 9th. Which isn’t too long of a wait, especially since you can now get the ball rolling and pre-order the game for yourself right now.
Of course, some fans aren’t too pleased that, from the looks of it right now, there doesn’t seem to be a physical release of Okami HD on the way. It’s a complaint that does hold some weight, particularly when there are more than enough articles to explain why digital only releases can be problematic in the future, but we hope that won’t put people, particularly newcomers, off entirely.
But what do you think? Are you a fan of Okami, and if not do you think now’s the time for you to try it out? Let us know in the comments below.
