Nintendo NES Classic Is Officially Returning This Summer

After supposedly brought to a premature end in early 2017, Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition will finally be making its triumphant return this summer. The Nintendo NES Classic, as well as the SNES Classic, will be available for sale starting from June 29th, 2018. Fans can finally scratch that retro gaming itch and re-live their nostalgic childhood memories.

Nintendo America announced the news via Twitter earlier today. The company promises that the Nintendo NES Classic will remain available throughout the year until the end of 2018. It looks like fans will not have to worry about product shortage, unlike last time when only 2.3 million units were manufactured, which was unable to meet the ravenous demand.

Nintendo NES Classic: Price

The Nintendo NES Classic will be available for purchase at a suggested retail price of $59.99. It will arrive with 30 games, which includes iconic classics like Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda and Mega Man 2. The manufacturer has pre-installed all the games into the console, so players will only need to plug it in to start playing.

Nintendo NES Classic: Features

Unlike the original console, the Nintendo NES Classic will allow players to pick up right where they left off. With over four Suspend Point slots for each game, players can now easily save without the fear of losing their progress. There will also be three different display modes to choose from, with the CRT filter making the screen look like an old TV’s.

This is great news for Nintendo fans, especially after the company confirmed that the Virtual Console won’t be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Virtual Console was a brand of downloadable games, consisting of classics from the library of the company’s past home and handheld gaming devices, including the NES and SNES. However, players will still have the option of playing certain NES games on the Nintendo Switch as part of the soon-to-be-launched Nintendo Switch Online subscription service.
