It’s not quite Pokemon GO, but the FIFA 18 Ultimate Team metagame has taken a real-life turn by having the fans reveal the complete Team of the Season – by finding the cards in real-world locations.
As revealed by EA Sports on Twitter, May 4 sees the release of all 11 players who have outshone their peers in the Premier League this season, with each player being unveiled to the wider public upon their card being discovered out in the wild.
To take part in the challenge, players must head to the official website and use the geographical clues to the right of the screen to pinpoint the location of the next TOTS card. Not only will you get some (brief) Twitter fame and a 4-foot card to carry home on the bus with you, you’ll also get a copy of that card to use in-game on FIFA 18 Ultimate Team.
Starting at 3pm BST, the process is, at the time of writing, still ongoing. However, here is the list of players that have been found so far, including their overall ratings.
FIFA 18 Ultimate Team: Premier League Team of the Season 2018
- David De Gea (Manchester United, 97 Overall)
- Kyle Walker (Manchester City, 92 Overall)
- Nicolas Otamendi (Manchester City, 93 Overall)
- Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham Hotspur, 92 Overall)
- David Silva (Manchester City, 95 Overall)
With Manchester City hurtling towards a Premier League record points tally, it’s no surprise to see them dominate proceedings in the FIFA 18 Ultimate Team TOTS thus far. In fact, there aren’t really any shocks so far.
I’ve got my fingers crossed for an overpowered Wilfried Zaha, but you’d imagine some names are already locks, with the likes of Mo Salah, Kevin de Bruyne and Harry Kane having exceptional seasons in the Premier League.
