Microsoft and Discord Team up to Unite Gamers Through Discord and Xbox Live

PC and console gamers alike are in for a real treat, because today Microsoft and Discord have announced a collaboration that will unite gamers through Discord and Xbox. This is huge news for players, because if there’s one thing that makes gaming more fun, it’s the connection you make with other people along the way. With this new team-up between Discord and Xbox, interactivity and connection between a group of friends has been made simpler than ever before.

Players will now have the option to link their Discord account to their Xbox account, allowing you to see what games your friends are playing no matter whether they’re on PC or Xbox. For example, if you’re playing Sea of Thieves on Xbox, your friends on PC will see it and have the choice to jump on Xbox One and join you.

As detailed on Xbox’s official website, there are a few different ways on how linking your account will work:

Discord on Xbox One

If you’re an Xbox Insider then you’re in luck. Soon you will have the option to add to link your Xbox account to Discord directly from your Xbox One, an option that will become available to the Xbox community as a whole very soon. Next, you’ll have to open the account settings menu on Xbox One, then select ‘Linked social accounts.’ Clicking this will show you a new option for linking your Discord account to your Xbox One. When you receive your unique code from Xbox, open the Discord app and insert the code into the Connections tab.

PC and Mobile App

In the weeks to come, you will see will see an option to link your Xbox account to your Discord account through the Connections tab under ‘User settings’. You will then see an Xbox Live option, click on it and sign into your Xbox account. You’ll be asked to enable permission and when you do your two accounts will be linked.

Once you’re done with following these simple steps, consider your accounts linked, enabling your friends and other users from your servers to see what you’re playing online. Are you excited about the change? Let us know in the comments below.
