The Agony release date has now been announced, giving survival horror enthusiasts something new to get excited about. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be thrilled at the prospect of exploring a new, terrifying world next month. And yes, I did just say “next month.” The Agony launch date has now been confirmed to be May 29. (And that’s May 29, 2018, meaning no, you don’t have to wait another entire year!)
With the release date already rapidly closing in, us survival horror enthusiasts don’t have much time to prepare for the hellish onslaught.
If you haven’t been keeping tabs on Agony, allow me to quickly get you up to speed. Coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One, Agony is a first-person survival horror title, in which players take on the role of a tormented soul within Hell. Unfortunately, this character has no recollection of their past deeds, and so must search the fiery depths for answers, ultimately hunting down an incredibly creepy “Red Goddess,” who apparently knows how to escape the hellscape. Aiding them on their journey through Hell, players will be have the power to control people and possess less-powerful demons.
If Agony sounds compelling, give this minute-long trailer a watch for a clear look at the setting and what to expect:
Pretty intense stuff, right? The voice acting previewed in the trailer certainly gave me the creeps. Looks like we’re going to be dealing with some crazy characters. A survival horror game which takes place in Hell should be surprisingly refreshing, after all of the haunted house and forest locations that have been featured recently.
As mentioned before, Agony is set to launch on May 29, for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Physical editions of the game have been confirmed to be coming to stores, so keep an eye out for those if digital isn’t your thing.
