Destiny 2 Warmind Expansion Releasing Next Month With Season Three

Bungie recently announced Destiny 2‘s next expansion, Warmind, when it revealed the game’s development roadmap for summer 2018. Warmind will be the second expansion to Destiny 2 and it will launch on May 8th, 2018 with the beginning of Season Three.

In a news update on the official site, Destiny 2 game director Christopher Barrett said: “The team is very excited to extend the roadmap and share with you some of the big stakes we’re putting in the ground. Recent updates have focused on immediate issues to the live game, but in the coming months, our vision for the future is converging with critical player feedback to deliver transformative changes to Destiny 2.”

Warmind is only described as sending players to new places to meet new heroes and battle new enemies, as well as letting them earn new loot and master new activities. No specific details have been revealed regarding the new expansion, except the announcement that we will be seeing more information in an upcoming reveal stream on April 24th, 2018.

Season Three of Destiny 2 will change how Crucible content is delivered. Bungie will release all the new Crucible maps in development for Warmind into matchmaking for all players, along with the maps previously released with Curse of Osiris. Every player will also receive new arenas in matchmade playlists like Quickplay, Competitive, Trials of the Nine, Iron Banner, including the new weekly rotators like Rumble and Mayhem. However, players need to purchase each Expansion to have exclusive access to play those Crucible maps with other players in private matches.

Highly-anticipated features like Weapon Randomization, Weapon Slot Changes, Gear Collections, and Records are slated to arrive in September, which has been designated as Season Four. Bungie also has plans for Raid Prestige and Raid Lair changes, which will be updated and added in the next Development Roadmap.
