Spider-Man PS4 Release Date Revealed and it’s Sooner Than You Think

The Spider-Man PS4 release date has been revealed, with Insomniac Games announcing when the action-adventure superhero game will be web-swinging its way onto the console. While many were concerned that the game would be pushed back into 2019, the developer has revealed that it is set to launch on September 7th, 2018.

The game, which will release exclusively on PS4, will see players assuming the role of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man as he throws himself around New York, free-running across buildings and taking down baddies using his extensive move set. The news was revealed by GameInformer, following the magazine’s announcement that it would be featuring the game in its cover story this month.

Spider-Man PS4 is one of the most highly-anticipated games of the year, though its lack of a release date had caused some to suspect that its release date would be delayed. With it being one of the most publicized games for Sony’s console, this is a significant release to conclude the PS4’s year, bolstering its line-up for 2018.

According to GameInformer, the outlet’s cover story “offers information on Spider-Man’s upgrades, leveling, and suit crafting. Yes, you can bring back some of Spider-Man’s most beloved looks, of which there are many.”

Spider-Man PS4 is a standalone game, meaning that it won’t follow in the footsteps of Marvel’s movies, including last year’s critically-acclaimed Spider-Man: Homecoming. Insomniac has stated that it will see players assuming the role of a more experienced Spider-Man, who has a wide range of moves and abilities to choose from.

Following the announcement of the Spider-Man PS4 release date, PlayStation released a video encouraging Spider-Man to pre-order the game, showing off a snippet new footage in the process.
