The Xbox Game Pass is a new subscription service which gives users access to over 100 games, comprised of both Xbox One and Xbox 360 backwards compatible titles. With an active subscription, players can download and install as many of these games as they like, with no restrictions.
New titles will be added to the Xbox Game Pass every month. However, that works both ways, with some games also being removed. Offline play is supported for up to 30 days. Following that, players will need to connect their Xbox One system to the internet to continue their access.
Xbox Game Pass Video Guide
Xbox has created a 3-minute Xbox Game Pass guide, which goes through how to sign up to the Game Pass, the launch titles that are on offer right away, and other tips. The video walkthrough works well as a guide through the Xbox One menu system.
You can watch Xbox’s Larry Hryb talk you through the Xbox Game Pass below:
Hryb mentions upcoming “Game Pass exclusive offers,” which will work in a similar way to Xbox Live Gold promotions, or PlayStation Plus discounts on PS4. Xbox Game Pass members save 20% on Xbox One game purchases, and 10% on all related add-ons, but that’s only while that particular title is featured in the Xbox Game Pass.
It’s currently possible to access a 14-day free trial, which allows for two free weeks of gaming content, before then rolling into a subscription. Users trying the service will want to make a note of when they sign up, in case they intend to cancel once the trial period has ended.
Back in January, Microsoft revealed that the Xbox Game Pass would be getting all Microsoft Studios titles on release date. We’ve already seen Sea of Thieves made available through the subscription service, and both State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3 have been named as guaranteed Xbox Game Pass titles.
