PUBG Roadmap 2018

PUBG Roadmap 2018 Promises New PC Maps, Emote System and More

Not to be outdone by the impressively communicative Epic Games, the PUBG development team has posted a PUBG Roadmap 2018 for the PC version of the game. It details substantial changes and improvements coming to the still-insanely-popular battle royale title. The highlights of the PUBG Roadmap 2018 include two brand new maps, overhauled animations for both TPP and FPP, and a host of new weapons and vehicles.

Here’s the rundown of the PUBG Roadmap 2018:

PUBG Roadmap 2018: Two New PUBG Maps

The PUBG Roadmap 2018 provides details on two new PUBG maps. One will be a 4x4km island, which is half the size of existing maps, and should mean “higher player density” and “shorter matches.” Those who join the Experimental Test Server next month will get early access to the 4x4km map.

The second map will be 8x8KM, like Erangel and Miramar. Very little is known about this map, with the PUBG Roadmap 2018 only detailing its size.

PUBG Roadmap 2018: PUBG Emote System

The new PUBG Emote System will allow players to express themselves on the battlefield. It performs exactly how you would expect, with 12 different emotes available to choose from. Those on the PUBG Test Server can already try out the new emote system.

PUBG Roadmap 2018: New PUBG Vehicles, Weapons and Attachments

The PUBG Roadmap 2018 dedicates a single sentence to announcing that new vehicles will be added in the first half of the year, and that new weapons and weapon attachments will also be implemented in 2018. A teaser image of one of the upcoming weapons can be seen below.

PUBG Roadmap 2018: Overhauled PUBG Animations

Surprising to me, at least, is the PUBG Roadmap 2018’s mention of “overhauling [the] entire TPP and FPP animation systems, to make them smoother and more reactive to the environment.” As animations have already seen a great improvement, I was surprised that this was such a priority. Regardless, that’s what is being worked on.

In addition to the features highlighted above, the PUBG Roadmap 2018 also mentioned that new game modes are being looked into, in addition to in-game friends lists, Achievements, and squad voice chat. Armed and unarmed melee combat is also targeted for improvements, as is the parachuting system, which the developers want to make more responsive and appear more polished.
