PUBG Test Server Introduces Limb Penetration and Friend System

PUBG test servers on the PC are set to introduce a variety of new features, including an in-game friend system and a new limb penetration system. The new features were announced on the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Twitter account. with the PUBG team currently debugging and polishing the test build. The features announced for the test servers can be viewed below:

“PC players, our test servers are going up this week! We are currently polishing and debugging the test build. We are going to be introducing an in-game friend system, voice chat in main menu and vehicle and limb penetration system.”

Additionally, developer Bluehole asked for player feedback on the new features, specifically noting that the penetration system will require some fine-tuning.  The patch notes for the new update, which will be the PC’s PUBG Update 1.0 #7, will be released in the coming days.

The penetration system sounds interesting, with it presumably allowing for more realistic damage to limbs and vehicles. Though Bluehole hasn’t specifically stated what it will entail, it could well see players able to cripple opponents or take down their vehicles by way of targeting specific limbs or parts. It remains to be seen how well it will work in practice, and we’ll have to wait until the PUBG update is rolled out later this week in order to see it in action.
