Slightly Mad Studios has revealed that Project Cars 2 will be adding nine new iconic cars and a new race track tomorrow on March 6th, 2018. This new update is meant to celebrate Porsche’s 70th Anniversary. Lead Technical Vehicle Artist Casey Ringley recently announced the Porsche Legends Pack via PlayStation Blog. It is the second expansion pack to be released for Project Cars 2.
One of Porsche’s most legendary locations will be appearing for the very first time in a racing simulation game. It is the 3.7km FIA-certified ‘Porsche On-road Circuit’ in Leipzig, which was designed by famed F1-track designer Hermann Tilke in real life. It’s a testament to the race track’s authenticity that even the distinctive diamond-shaped Porsche Customer Centre has been virtually recreated, with the addition of pit-boxes for sim racers.
Each of the seven turns has been passionately recreated, mirroring world-famous venues such as the Suzuka S bend and Sebring’s Sunset Bend. It goes all the way to the final turn inspired by the Fuji Suntory bend.
The nine Porsche cars include the current GT-runner, the 2017 Porsche 911 RSR, and the 1972 Porsche 917/10, as well as seven other cars from different eras throughout Porsche’s varied 70-year history. Additionally, a new Update 4 has been released for Project Cars 2, which features performance and stability improvements. Update 4 also comes with gameplay balance tweaks and enhanced renders, as well as extensive AI improvements across many locations and vehicle classes.
Project Cars 2 is a motorsport racing simulator game developed by Slightly Mad Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It was originally released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2017. In our hands-on preview, we said that Project Cars 2 “is a game that will challenge you to find a rhythm with your car, and understand the physics at play. It’s a lot to handle, but extremely rewarding when you’re successful, especially when you’re able to tame the more technically challenging vehicles.”
