Fortnite Hunting Rifle Coming This Week, Replaces Delayed Fortnite Jetpack

After Epic Games teased the Fortnite jetpack, the community has been buzzing about the potential game-changing qualities it could have. Will it allow players to fly about the map, raining down rockets and grenades from above, or will it simply provide a boosted jump? Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait a little longer before we find out.

The jetpack has been delayed, and in its place, Epic Games is adding the Fortnite hunting rifle. Speaking to PC Gamer, the developer explained that a “last-minute design issue” resulted in the jetpack being held back for review. Players can instead “enjoy lots of no-scopes with the new hunting rifle item.”

A “new, lucky point of interest on the map” was also mentioned in the email. What makes it lucky? Perhaps the loot drops are better there? Or maybe it’s got a wishing well or something… Either way, we’ll find out more by the week’s end.

Here’s Epic Games’ full response to PC Gamer:

“This week’s new item is being changed from the Jetpack to the Hunting Rifle … We found a last minute design issue with the Jetpack that’s going to delay its launch and we’re working on correcting it… The Jetpack will lift off at a later time. Meanwhile, you’ll be able to enjoy lots of no-scopes with the new Hunting Rifle item and a new, lucky point of interest on the map.”

Fortnite Jetpack Release Date

The Fortnite jetpack was only ever officially described as “coming soon.” It turns out that the jetpack was actually intended to be released this week, but has now been delayed due to a “last-minute design issue.”

Epic Games has proven quick when working on other issues, so I’m optimistic that we’ll see the jetpack in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more official updates on that!
