Evo 2018 Schedule

Evo 2018 Schedule: Dragon Ball FighterZ Replaces MvC: Infinite

The Evo 2018 schedule has one glaring omission, which has been filled in by a surprising newcomer. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will not be one of the eight fighting games showcased at this year’s Evo tournament. Dragon Ball FighterZ will be making an appearance, instead.

This will be the first time that the Evo schedule doesn’t feature a Marvel game (according to Eurogamer), and speaks volumes about Infinite‘s lackluster launch and post-release performance. It also says a lot about the success of Dragon Ball FighterZ, which has quickly built up a substantial fan base, and is now considered one of the top tournament-worthy games out there.

A press release announced Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s Evo presence, and gave a rundown of what viewers can expect to see during the tournament:

Dragon Ball FighterZ, one of the most highly anticipated fighting games to launch in recent memory will take its place amongst other serious, hard-hitting, tournament-worthy fighting games at this year’s EVO 2018 Championship – running August 3-5 in Las Vegas.

“The Evolution Championship Series is the largest and longest-running fighting game tournament in the world, bringing together players of the highest caliber from around the globe to compete for big cash prizes and even bigger bragging rights within the competitive fighting game world.”
