Far Cry 5 Preview, Far Cry

Far Cry 5 Delayed to Provide a “Higher Quality Experience”

Far Cry 5‘s release date has been delayed, with the game no longer set to launch on February 27th, 2018.

Ubisoft has made the decision to push back Far Cry 5‘s release date in order to remain “in line with our strategic vision of developing even more engaging and higher quality experiences for gamers,” Ubisoft’s Christine Burgess-Quémard said, with it being delayed by one month. It will now release on March 27th, 2018.

“Taking more time with Assassin’s Creed Origins enabled our talented development team to fully express their creative vision,” Burgess-Quémard continued. “As expected, this had a very positive impact on the game’s quality and largely participated to its commercial success. Taking a similar approach, we have decided to invest additional development time in three upcoming games.”

Ubisoft also announced a few more delays, with The Crew 2 now being moved back to “the first half of Fiscal 2018-19” from its initial March 16th release date, while an unannounced title has been pushed back from the 2018/19 fiscal year to the 2019/20 fiscal year.

Far Cry 5 will only be delayed by one month, whereas the entire Assassin’s Creed franchise was given a year off after a couple of underwhelming releases. This isn’t a major setback for the game, with it still launching in Q1 2018, and hopefully that extra month of development will help Ubisoft give it some extra polish.
