Bungie Cancels Destiny 2 Stream But Insist “Far More Information” is on the Way

Bungie has cancelled a Destiny 2 stream in which players expected they would address the state of the game, with the developer instead looking to put together a blog post that will inform its community about their future plans for the FPS.

Bungie was initially scheduled to stage a Curse of Osiris stream tomorrow, with many players speculating that they would use this platform to elaborate upon what lay in store for Destiny 2. With many unhappy about the current state of the game, it was hoped that they’d receive some answers from the Bungie team, but the studio has now confirmed that their plans have changed and this will no longer be the case.

A statement from the developer reads:

“Hey, there.

Tomorrow, we had planned to conduct the final stream prior to the launch of “Curse of Osiris” to show off some of the weapons and armor the expansion includes. Instead, we are investing all our efforts into delivering some higher priority information about Destiny 2.

You’ll hear from studio leadership about their assessment of Destiny all up, they’ll talk about our goals for the game going forward, and you’ll also learn about how we’re reacting to your feedback with some game updates that will arrive in the next few weeks.

That will appear on the Bungie Blog on Wednesday. Thank you, DeeJ”

While some on the Destiny Reddit have complained that Bungie is pushing back its plans, others believe that this is for the best and it will allow them to put together more concrete plans, rather than face a slew of criticisms mid-stream tomorrow.

Likewise, community manager DeeJ has confirmed that this plan will be more beneficial for both Bungie and Destiny 2 players. “This will result in far more information than a gear parade,” he tweeted, adding: “Right now, the moment calls for some very specific details and well-crafted thoughts. Streams are good for playing games, but we need to look to the future.”

With Destiny 2 having faced a barrage of criticisms as a result of its underwhelming endgame content (not to mention its hidden XP scaling), hopefully Bungie will be able to make amends with its community sooner rather than later.
