Wasteland and Torment Developer inXile Says “Stay Tuned” for Nintendo Switch News

inXile Entertainment has just announced that is it is offically a Nintendo Switch developer. inXile is best known for its dedication to computer RPG’s. Since its inception in 2002, it has released games that are modeled after the beloved 1990’s style of computer RPG’s from the era of developers like Interplay and Black Isle Studios.

In a recent tweet from Brian Fargo, he announced that inXile is now a Nintendo approved Switch developer and for fans of the hybrid console to “stay tuned for future [Switch] news.” Fargo is the CEO of the studio, founding it after him and fellow co-founder Matthew Findley left renowned CRPG developer Interplay in the early 2000’s.

Most notably, inXile Entertainment has released Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera. Wasteland 2 is the sequel to the revolutionary 1988 original RPG that has been wrapped in controversy ever since its release, due to licensing issues and its spiritual successor Fallout.

Torment: Tides of Numenera, on the other hand, is noteworthy for being a spiritual successor to the acclaimed Planescape: Torment. Brian Fargo not only founded inXile, but he also founded Interplay who developed both of those memorable RPG’s. Fargo also notes that the studio is a fan of the Nintendo Switch and they are currently “exploring ideas.”

Both Wasteland 2 and Torment are available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, initially releasing in 2014 and 2017 respectively. In addition, inXile Entertainment also released The Mage’s Tale earlier this year as a virtual reality title. The VR dungeon crawler is meant to be a prelude to the upcoming The Bard’s Tale IV slated for next year.

The only other game that has been announced by inXile is Wasteland 3. It is scheduled to launch sometime in 2019. With the studio now an official Nintendo Switch developer, it is likely that inXile already has an idea of what game(s) it would like to bring to Switch, be it an already released game and/or the two upcoming titles. Which would you like to see come to the Switch?
