Now that almost all of the long-wished for games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Shenmue III have been announced, there aren’t really any series that gamers can now wish for outside of that one Valve game and Mega Man.
While the series hasn’t been outright dead, with releases like Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 bringing back previous entries onto modern consoles, there hasn’t been a brand new, mainline Mega Man title since the mostly positive 10th title back in 2010.
Fans have been clamoring for a new, modern 2D entry or 3D Legends-esque game for some time now. Though sales for Mega Man 10 were positive, Capcom has thus far been satisfied with simply re-releasing collections on various platforms.

That could change, as this year marks the 30th anniversary for the beloved series. At the recent Tokyo Game Show, Capcom hosted a mostly disappointing anniversary celebration that ended with some hopeful closing statements from the producer of Mega Man Legacy Collection 2.
Thanks to Rockman Corner, we have a translated version of his comments. Kazuhiro Tsuchiya said:
I want to say that Capcom has not forgotten about Rockman [Mega Man]. This [30th anniversary logo] here is being put to good use. Rockman‘s 30th anniversary is coming in December – December, please remember that date!
On behalf of Ucchy and everyone here, we are looking forward to it very much and hope you are as well. We are deeply pleased to be able to share this with all the fans who have made this possible. Thank you for all of your support, up til now, and in the future.
There’s no telling what Capcom will announce in December. It could be the next in its line of poor mobile ports, a complete collection, a Switch port, or yes, a brand new game. Don’t get your hopes up just yet, as it could really be anything at all. However, we’d love to know in the comments what you hope/think will be announced in December.
