Destiny 2 Servers are Live Across the World

Ahead of its originally planned launch, Destiny 2 and its servers are now live across the world. Initially, the plan was for its servers to go live when it reached midnight in your specific regional area.

For example: if you live in North America, the servers were to go live at midnight EDT. For those on the West Coast, that would be around 9 p.m. PDT.

However, that is now out the window as servers are available even in North America. Whether this is due to Destiny 2 launching in other countries like Australia and New Zealand or a simple mishap on Bungie’s end, players can now jump into the highly anticipated sequel to the pseudo-MMO Destiny.

Though you may be hoping this means you can jump into your digital copy of Destiny 2 right now, that is unfortunately still not the case. If you purchased the game digitally on PS4 or Xbox One, the game will remain locked and unable to be accessed until midnight in your country, like previously mentioned.

However, you are still able to pre-download the title if you haven’t already done so, as the approximately 32GB of space required can take quite a while depending on your connection.

Destiny2Gameplay

For those that have been lucky enough to receive a retail copy early from stores like GameStop or a free code from publisher Activision, you can jump into the game right now and start your journey once again as a Guardian of the stars.

As a special bonus to players that purchased the original Destiny, you can bring over your previous character and play as them in Destiny 2, or start a brand new one.

In addition, the game plays tribute to your older character, opening the game with a beautifully hand-drawn depiction of various events that you experienced in the first game with one final homage to the Tower before its destruction at the beginning of Destiny 2.
