A new Scorn gameplay trailer has arisen, showing off more of the survival horror game that is set to get fans of the Alien film franchise talking.
Scorn is currently in development from Ebb Software, with it trying to reach its €150,000 crowdfunding goal on Kickstarter, and a sequel already planned out by its team. But while its launch is therefore still a reasonable distance away, Ebb has debuted a gameplay trailer that is more than enough to get us interested in the direction they’re headed in.
The design of the world featured in the trailer strongly evokes the work of H. R. Giger, the artist most famous for his work on the original Alien quadrilogy, while its enemies have all the fleshy, unsettling, oddly phallic qualities of Silent Hills‘ roster of monstrosities. The most interesting aspect of the trailer, however, is the player-character’s interchangeable weapon, which appears to have a literal life of its own.
Here’s the official synopsis for the game:
“Scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry. It is designed around the idea of “being thrown into the world”. Isolated and lost inside this dream-like world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion. The unsettling environment is a character itself. Every location contains its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive lived-in world. Throughout the game you will open up new areas, acquire different skill sets, weapons, various items and try to comprehend the sights presented to you.”
