Uncharted 3 Patch Adds Tournament Mode

If your copy of Uncharted 3 has been gathering dust for awhile, you might want to change that today. Naughty Dog announced via their blog this morning that Patch 1.13 for Uncharted 3 drops today, and it just happens to be the game's biggest update so far.

The largest addition is a Tournament Mode, a points-based competition that does more than simply slap your PSN ID on a leaderboard. The mode has three reward tier system that awards special in-game weapons and items based on your multiplayer performance. The weapon you've unlocked is yours until the next tournament period. Curious how the math works? Naughty Dog was pretty blatant with how clean and fair their equation is:

Points = 1000 + (10*kills) + (2.5*assists) – (8*deaths) * [1.2-(party size*0.2)]

You join a tournament by literally buying into it with tickets. At the start of each tournament period, every player has ten free tickets, so no additional purchase is required to participate in this mode.

A majority of the patch will be available today, but the rest will trickle in with the PlayStation Store Update on August 14th in the form of multiplayer DLC. If you're curious to see everything this patch has to offer, check out Naughty Dog's full writeup on their blog.
