Yakuza Kiwami might not be releasing until next week, but Sega is already working on a follow up.
Accidently published on the Taiwanese PlayStation Store, Yakuza Kiwami 2 has been leaked. According to its description, it will be a remake of Yakuza 2 host on the Yakuza 6 engine exclusively for the PS4. Most surprisingly, the listing indicates it will be out in Asia before the end of 2017.
Apparently, this will be one of several games announced tomorrow during a livestream.
While remaking the original Yakuza with Yakuza Kiwami was considered a big deal among fans of the series, Yakuza 2 is a more well-regarded game. This is a significant announcement by Sega that will likely have a positive impact on its fiscal year results.
In Yakuza 2 players take control of former yakuza member Kazuma Kiryu as he gets tangled in a dangerous clash between gang families. It had a strong reputation for its fighting system at the time, and included no English dubs as a result of negative response from the first game.
