Telltale Takes Justice Into Its Own Hands

Dun dun!

Huh? No, no, it's not the Jaws sound effect, it's Law and Order. What, you can't tell the difference in text format? Hmm, yeah, I guess I didn't think that one through.

Anyhow, hold on to your gavels, boys and girls, cause after tackling the world of film franchises with their Back to the Future and upcoming Jurassic Park series, Telltale Games is applying their tried-and-true episodic brand of game development to the most recent Law and Order spinoff, Law and Order: LA. Can they ever be stopped? Given how great their Monkey Island, Sam and Max, and BTTF games were, I'd hope not.

Still, a Law and Order game might seem like a somewhat odd choice for a new episodic series – unless you're familiar with the lesser-known CSI games out of Telltale. Telltale co-founder and CEO Dan Connor states in the press release:

"'Law & Order: LA' fits very well with the style of episodic entertainment experiences Telltale has been building since our very first days. The talents and skills that we’ve been building at Telltale are ideally suited for the structure and storytelling approach of televised procedurals like 'Law & Order.'"

The game will follow Detectives Ricardo Morales (played by Alfred Molina) and Tomas “TJ” Jaruszalski (Corey Stoll, "Midnight in Paris") as they pursue cases through the City of Angels. I may be in the minority here, but I'm disappointed that it isn't based on Law and Order: SVU, because I would kill for a chance to play as Ice-T bustin' perps while making snarky wise-ass comments.
