Bad Dudes 2 On Kickstarter

We're all tired of hearing about Kickstarter games, but I'm not sure we've seen one appear with as big of a retro callback as this one. I'm talking about a Kickstarter project for an official sequel to Bad Dudes, an arcade beat-em-up game from the 80s that asked all of us if we were bad enough dudes to save the president.

Bad Dudes 2 will take place 23 years after the original game, and it will feature Blade and Striker once again. They may be older, but they're still the only ones bad enough to save the president.

Joe Modzeleski from Pinstripe Games goes as far as to say that they're not only older, they're out of shape. I really hope this means that the tutorial will feature getting these guys back into shape.

Modzeleski also promises that "Bad Dudes 2 will be just as ridiculous [as the first], but with the modern conventions and modern mentality to make that ridiculousness even more over the top, and the action as outrageous as possible."

As of this writing, the Kickstarter project has 22 days to go to raise its goal of $80,000, and it only has $2,103. Plenty of other projects have made similarly steep goals before, but I have a feeling it may be even harder for this game to succeed. Yes, it's inspired a 20-year-old meme, but I'm not sure it has enough nostalgia to garner the needed interest.

That said, I would absolutely love it if I was wrong. If you're interested in donating, a mere $10 guarantees you a digital copy of the game upon release. Bad Dudes 2 will launch for PC and Mac only.
