Android Console Announced

Apple has said they won't be in the console business, but hey, that doesn't mean Android will follow suit, even if it means unofficially. In fact, there is an announcement on AngelList that a team is developing a new console with the Android OS called Ouya that will allow developers to self-publish their games. The project team consists of Julie Uhrman, former head of digital distribution for IGN, and Yves Behar, founder of Fuseproject and the current COO of Jawbone, the headset tech studio.

In other words, Ouya welcomes all hackers, Angry Birds copycats, and Bejeweled knock-offs! For your TV! ZOMG!

The console will be priced at $99, for both consumers and developers, and all games will be free-to-play.
