Game of Thrones MMORPG Will Be Called “Seven Kingdoms”

Bigpoint Games announced via press release that their upcoming Game of Thrones MMORPG will be called "Seven Kingdoms," which makes since as Westeros is made up of seven kingdoms.

The game will be browser-based, free-to-play and will utilize the Unity engine. A beta has been announced, in that it will exist, but no start date as of yet.

The MMORPG takes place right after the first Game of Thrones book, but the developer has emphasized that it's mostly inspired by the HBO TV series, not the books, which confuses the hell out of me. The game will force players to make alliances with the vying kings and will also employ siege combat as well as PvP.

Join the fight for Westeros and pledge your fealty to the house of Stark, Lannister or Baratheon. Defeat your enemies and dictate the course of your destiny.

Defend your house as a valiant knight or plot clandestine ruses should you choose to protect your own interests. Arm yourself with sophisticated political and combat systems and lead Westeros into a new and glorious age!

No date or timeline for release has been announced.
