Real Life Rewards Will Be Tied To Xbox Achievements

Guess what Achievement whores? You may be getting more than meaningless points for your Achievements in the future!

The official Xbox Live Rewards twitter account tweeted a tease suggesting just that. "We've hit 50,000 followers, which means it's time for an announcement! Coming Fall: a new way to earn Rewards based on your Achievements!"

The Xbox Live Rewards program rewards users with Microsoft Points for doing random things on Xbox Live. I'm part of this program, and I'm still miffed that I won't get my first bonus points for signing for Xbox Gold, as I already have a Gold account. So I have to admit that I am curious as to how they will tie your Achievements and GamerScore to the program. If you have to score the perfect 1000 for a game to get a reward, I'll never open up that treasure box. However, if they reward you for hitting GamerScore milestones, say every 10,000 points after you reach 20,000, that could be fun indeed.

I hope GamerScores carry over to the next-gen.
