Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs Reveals Horrifying Teaser Trailer

So here's the deal, if you enjoy survival horror games then hopefully you've played Amnesia: The Dark Descent. If not then you're missing out on one of the most unique and truly terrifying experiences in gaming.

That said, its development studio, Frictional Games, experienced some well-deserved success following its last release and quickly began working on an indirect sequel named Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. We've known about its existence for months now, but no details have accompanied its name other than an expected release date of 2012. However, now a website is available for the title and it includes a trailer which you can see below:

I just managed to beat Amnesia: The Dark Descent for my first time today, and I couldn't be more happy to see another horror title being developed by the crafty team at Frictional Games—although my heart will probably regret these sentiments later. Judging by the trailer the suspenseful and methodical gameplay is still intact, but the graphics, especially the shadows and lighting, look much improved.

In addition to the above trailer, the following excerpt was posted on the official website to give some background on the story:

The year is 1899. Wealthy industrialist Oswald Mandus has returned home from a disastrous expedition to Mexico, which has ended in tragedy. Wracked by fever, haunted by dreams of a dark machine, he recovers consciousness in his own bed, with no idea of how much time has passed since his last memory. As he struggles to his feet, somewhere beneath him, an engine splutters, coughs, roars into life…

Haunted by dreams… great. Looks like I'm going to need to save the My Little Pony soundtrack I used to help get myself through Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Oh, and a tip to all you folks who are new to the series, I recommend warning your family that you're not actually screaming for help when playing the game. Nothing like seeing your father run into your room with a candlestick ready to save your life only to find out you're playing a videogame. Never again.

Amensia: A Machine for Pigs is set to release sometime before Halloween day this year. Stay tuned for more.
