Bioshock Infinite Delayed Into 2013

Aww, look. This news made her cry.

Scratch another one of our most anticipated games of 2012 off the list, and add it to the growing list of titles skipping out on E3. However, unlike Final Fantasy Versus XIII, this one may surprise you.

After winning a number of best of E3 awards, Bioshock Infinite looked to be a clear cut Game of the Year 2012 contender. Except it's not going to release in 2012 as originally announced.

Ken Levine broke the sad news this morning:

When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing. Since then, we’ve come to realize that some specific tweaks and improvements will make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February 26, 2013.

I'll take that as a half-truth. I'm sure the added time will allow more tweaking, making Bioshock Infinite a better game. But watching industry trends over the last few years, leads me to believe that this has more to do with giving Bioshock Infinite breathing room, and less competition in the holiday season from the likes of Black Ops II and Assassin's Creed III; which typically dominate in Q4.
