Black Ops 2 PC Version Promised Better Visuals And DirectX 11

Call of Duty: Black Ops was far from an eye-popping game, but that doesn't mean that its newly-announced sequel faces the same destiny.

Treyarch's Online Director, Dan Bunting, confirmed to Eurogamer that the PC version of Black Ops II will receive a "visual overhaul" over the previous Black Ops installment. To follow that up, Bunting also announced that DirectX 11 will be supported, which is a technological boost over the DirectX 9 that Black Ops was bound by.

That said, don't get too excited because DirectX 11 is somewhat of an industry standard at this point, and supporting DirectX 11 doesn't mean that its features, such as tesselation and new shader techniques, will be implemented. When you consider that along with just how par Black Ops looked, Bunting's quote almost immediately becomes far less exciting.

The announcement trailer for Black Ops II can be seen below which includes a few seconds of gameplay — don't be too liberal there Activision. You can tell that the visual approach is very similar to the last title and foregoes handfuls of bloom effects for a more gritty atmosphere. See for yourself:

Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be releasing for Windows, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on November 13th.
